Members Helping Members BEC Member Participation
Give a Little–Help A Lot

Members Helping Members (MHM) is a charitable program that is offered by many utility and electric companies across the country, including smaller cooperatives. Almost all states are represented by this program.

MHM was designed to provide financial assistance to families in need of assistance, “Members Helping Members.” It is a volunteer program in which BEC member-owners agree to have their utility bill “rounded up” to the next whole dollar amount or a defined amount billed monthly, annually, or just one time. The extra money paid on a utility bill, which is really a donation, goes towards helping the less fortunate pay their bills.

MHM can help with paying for utility bills. Funds are never provided for any political purpose, and donated money will not go toward paying the program’s administrative costs.

  • Beartooth Electric’s Member’s Helping Members is a charitable foundation separate from the cooperative.
  • The foundation’s funds go towards helping members in need to pay their bills.
  • An independent board made up of BEC member-owners review applications for the charitable foundation and selects how and to whom the money will be distributed.
  • BEC Member-owner participation is voluntary.
