BEC offers a variety of ways to manage your account and make paying your electric bill more convenient. Current bills are always due the last business day of the month.

Payment On-Line (SmartHub)

Payments can be made on the SmartHub website from your computer or smartphone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payments are credited to your BEC account immediately after processing the payment. Credit Cards, debit cards, and electronic check payments are accepted. You can also schedule payments up to 90 days in advance. Please note that scheduled payments are not considered payment arrangements. Please contact the BEC office directly to make arrangements.

SecurePay 24/7 Phone Payment

In a hurry? Afraid your payment will be late? Want a no hassle way to pay your bill?

Call (888) 395-5293 to make a phone payment anytime day or night.

Your phone number and account number will be needed for this system. Follow the prompts to hear your account balance and pay your bill. You can pay by credit card, debit card, or bank account.

Our SecurePay system also allows you to check your account balance, update your phone information and enroll in bill autopay.

The BEC SecurePay system complies with security standards set forth by the credit card industry. This ensures your payment information is kept safe and secure.

Auto Pay (SmartHub)

Payments can be automatically drafted from your checking or savings account or your credit/debit card for the amount of your monthly electric bill each month so they are made on time, every time. Payments are drafted on the 25th of each month. If the 25th falls on a weekend or holiday, the draft is made on the next business day.

To sign up for credit/debit card draft, please log into your account on the SmartHub website or smartphone app and visit the Auto Pay Program section.

Please note that accounts must have a ZERO balance before setting up credit/debit card draft.

Payment by Phone (Member Service Representative)

Payments can be made over the phone at (1-800) 472-9821 or (406) 446-2310. A BEC account number and credit/debit card or checking information is all that is needed.

Payment at the BEC Red Lodge Office

Payment can be made in person at the BEC Red Lodge office, 1306 Broadway Ave N, Red Lodge, MT 59068. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit/debit card.

Standard Billing

Beartooth Electric Rate Classes:

    1. Residential
    2. Small Commercial
    3. Large Commercial
    4. Industry
      • Rate Classes 1-4 are billed monthly. Electric Bills are generated during the first week of the next month for the precious month’s usage
    5. Irrigation
      • Rate Class 5 is billed monthly during May-October for usage April 1 – September 30. Electric bills are generated during the first week of the next month for the precious month’s usage.
    6. Net Meter
      • Rate Class 6 is billed monthly. Electric bills are generated during the first week of the next month for the previous month’s usage. An annual tune-up is calculated, and credits or billing is issued according to the account.

Budget Billing

With the Budget Billing program, you can guard against large fluctuations in your electric bill caused by changes in the weather. Your bill each month is based on the average of the previous 12 months. Because a “rolling average” method is used and recalculated quarterly, your amount due may change somewhat from month-to-month each quarter, but the program is designed so that the change won’t usually be a large amount.

Your bill will show the number of kilowatt-hours of electricity you use each month, but you will only pay for the average usage.
