2026 Annual Member Meeting
Powering Today. Positioned for the Future.
At Beartooth Electric Cooperative’s 88th Annual Member Meeting, we shared a message that reflects both where we are today and where we are headed: Powering Today. Positioned for the Future.
As a member-owned cooperative, every decision we make is guided by a commitment to providing safe, reliable, and reasonably priced service—not only for today’s members, but for future generations as well.
Members participated in one of the cooperative’s most important principles—democratic member control. Trustees were elected to represent Districts 1, 3, and 7, ensuring continued local leadership and member representation on the Board of Trustees. Mike Specht (District 1), Jim Neu (District 3), and Elisha Otis (District 7) were elected to serve the membership, each for full three-year terms. Their willingness to serve reflects the cooperative spirit that has guided Beartooth Electric for 88 years—neighbors working together to make decisions in the best interest of the communities they serve.
The Annual Meeting also highlighted the strength of your cooperative. In 2025, Beartooth Electric invested more than $1.4 million in infrastructure improvements, strengthened wildfire mitigation efforts, maintained system reliability exceeding 99.98%, and continued preparing for future energy needs through long-term power supply planning and strategic financial management. The cooperative also returned nearly $500,000 in capital credits to current and former members, reinforcing the value of the cooperative business model.
With our current wholesale power contract ending in 2027, the Board and management team continue planning for the future. From the Broadwater Hydroelectric Project to a diversified power supply strategy, our focus remains on securing reliable, reasonably priced energy while maintaining local control and long-term member value.
This year’s meeting also marked the retirement of District 7 Trustee Ralph Lewis. Ralph’s years of dedicated service, steady leadership, and commitment to the membership helped shape the cooperative we are today. We extend our sincere appreciation for his service and lasting contributions to Beartooth Electric Cooperative.
As we move through 2026, the Board remains focused on three priorities: safety, reliability, and affordability. By planning ahead and investing wisely, we are building on a strong foundation while positioning Beartooth Electric for the future.
Thank you for your continued trust, support, and engagement. Together, we are powering today and positioning Beartooth Electric Cooperative for the generations that follow.
