Beartooth Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BEC) 2020 Trustee Candidate Filing Period Opens

Beartooth Electric’s 2020 trustee candidate filing period officially opens January 1 for District 1 (Rockvale, MT to Park, WY area), District 3 (South Red Lodge, Bearcreek area) and District 7 (Columbus, Rapelje, Reed Point area) board seats. Trustee elections take place at the annual member meeting, May 2, 2020, ANIPRO Event Center, Absarokee, Montana. BEC members living in Districts 1, 3 and 7 interested in running for the BEC Board of Trustees have until March 13, 2020 to declare their candidacies.

BEC is committed to conducting business with a high level of integrity and in an ethical and responsible manner. Board members, elected by members, demonstrate veracity and principles in their professional and personal lives and contribute to the organization’s diversity in terms of background and business experience. The board takes great responsibility in setting policy and procedures and maintaining financial strength while supporting staff who run the day to day operations of the utility.

2020 candidates are invited to a Trustee Orientation Workshop date and location to be determined based upon interest. “The workshop is designed to provide all interested members running for election with an overview of rural electric cooperatives, Beartooth Electric and the board’s roles and responsibilities as outlined in the BEC amended bylaws and board policies,” stated Julie Lindgren, Board President. “We extend an open invitation to all interested members to join us for this informative event.”

BEC’s seven-member board represents all walks of life and resides in communities and neighborhoods throughout the BEC service territory. Since 1938, BEC employees, guided by the board of trustees, have made a supreme effort to balance fiscal responsibility with the goal of improving the lives of those whom they serve.
