Beartooth Electric 2019 Trustee Election

NOMINATION FILING PERIOD NOW OPEN-
DISTRICTS 2, 5 AND 7

The Beartooth Electric Cooperative (BEC) board of trustee election filing period is now open. Beartooth Electric member-owners who are interested in serving on the board of trustees can submit their names for nomination through March 15, 2019.

BEC has three trustee districts up for election at the 2019 Annual Member Meeting on May 4, 2019, at the ANIPRO Event Center, Absarokee, Montana.

  • District 2: Boyd, Joliet area. Current Trustee: Roxie Melton. Term: Full-term
  • District 5: Absarokee, Fishtail area. Current Trustee: Arleen Boyd.  Term: Full-term
  • District 7: Columbus, Rapelje, Reed Point area. The seat is currently an appointed position due to retirement and is required to be open for election at the next Annual Meeting. Term: Remainder of the current Term (2020).

The BEC Board is committed to conducting business with a high level of integrity and in an ethical and responsible manner. Board members, elected by member-owners, demonstrate veracity and principles in their professional and personal lives and contribute to the organization’s diversity in terms of background and business experience. The board takes great responsibility in setting policy and strategic direction for the Cooperative while supporting the General Manager who is responsible for the day to day operations of the utility. BEC’s seven-member board represents all walks of life and resides in communities and neighborhoods throughout the BEC service territory.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Each candidate shall declare their candidacy for a trustee position by submitting a nominating petition and a statement of one hundred words or less describing their qualifications and reason for running to: BEC Board of Trustees, c/o Beartooth Electric Cooperative, Inc., PO Box 1110, Red Lodge, Montana 59068. Each petition shall consist of the printed name, address, telephone number and original and dated signature of not fewer than fifteen (15) member-owners, regardless of district, (Article IV, Section 4 of the Bylaws). A BEC member-owner may sign petitions for candidates in any district, and there is no limit on the number of candidate petitions a member may sign. The nominees will be given time at the annual meeting to share their qualifications and reason for seeking the nomination. Districts 2 and 5 will be seeking trustees for a full term. District 7 will be filling a vacancy until the expiration of the term in 2020.
