Are you interested in solar power? Great! We are too! Hurry-Panel Certificate Sales Ends November 1.
As the name describes, Shares Du Soleil is all about sharing the sun with our members. Shared Solar is an idea whose time has come, according to BEC General Manager, Kevin P. Owens: “It’s all about leveraging the economies of scale to improve affordability. Our “Shares Du Soleil” program will make it possible for our residential and commercial members to reap all the benefits of solar generation—including both cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability—without having to hassle with the challenges involved with installing photovoltaic panels and the ongoing maintenance costs required to keep them performing at maximum capacity. It’s also a powerful feeling to be a part of something with positive environmental impacts that extend much farther than those of any single individual.”
Beartooth Electric Solar Project informational workshops are scheduled to discuss this opportunity with members and share how they can purchase the output from a solar panel(s) that BEC owns and maintains to receive a monthly energy credit on their bill. It is a very creative option for those members who choose not to install or may not have the ability to install solar panels at their home or business. Because there are lots of questions to be answered, we encourage all interested members to join us at one of these informational workshops: Tuesday, June 12, Red Lodge Pizza Co-Natalie’s Banquet Room, 6:00 p.m. or Tuesday, June 26, The Cobblestone School, Absarokee, Montana, 6:00 p.m.
“This is one of those concepts that just makes so much sense on many different levels,” says BEC Board President, Julie Lindgren. “By coming together as a community of co-op members to support solar generation, the cost per watt will be less than for an individual installation and energy output is maximized. Plus, the benefits of Shared Solar are available to those who rent or homeowners whose properties are shaded or whose roofs are not well-suited for the installation of solar panels. Here at the co-op, we are really eager to bring this resource to our members.”
Interested members are encouraged to attend a meeting, consult the BEC website (www.beartoothelectric.com) or call the office (406-446-2310) for additional information. Download the program Frequently Asked Questions here.
